Iran, Italy banking ties enter a new phase

 



In a meeting with a delegation of Italian bankers, the Governor of the Central Bank of Iran emphasized the strengthening of correspondent banking relationships between the two countries.

 

According to the Central Bank of Iran PR department, In this meeting, Valiollah Seif emphasized promotion of trade relations between the two countries through strengthening banking co operations , "Italy is interested in expanding ties with Iran and,  many efforts have been made in this regard." Seif said.
Governor of CBI expressed hope for positive future co operations between the two countries: "Fortunately, Iranian President's visit of Italy had positive achievements but utilizing these achievements requires promotion of banking ties between the two countries."



" Negotiations conducted with our Italian counterpart during our trip to Italy were fruitful " , he added ," An MoU draft for bilateral collaborations has been prepared and will be signed on the annual Meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF)."
Seif urged Italian bankers to accelerate the positive measures taken in the field of banking cooperation in future meetings of bankers.



"Italian prime minister traveled to Iran in order to develop economic and banking relations. We also take this opportunity to express our commitment to Iran." emphasized Italo Pellegrino, one of the senior executives of Mediobanca, regarding Iranian delegation's visit last November.
He insisted on improving banking ties between the two countries and added: "we are pleased to be a part of this important historical moment; therefore, we try to improve further relations."
"We are in talks with Iranian Commercial banks and negotiations will be completed by the end of April." said Giuseppe Scognamiglio, Executive Vice President of Unicredit bank, on relations with Iranian banks.
Regarding co operation with Iranian banks after the JCPOA another Italian Official, Mario De Luca, director of MONTE PASCHI DI SIENA Bank, said: "Immediately after this agreement, several Iranian banks have opened accounts at our bank, and now we provide Bank Guarantees and Letters of Credit services for our customers."
