New governor of the Central Bank of Iran appointed
Abdolnaser Hemati has been appointed as the new governor of Central Bank of Iran, replacing Valiollah Seif.

Hemmati holds a PhD in Economics and is the Associate Professor of Theoretical Economics Department at Tehran University. Furthermore, he is named as the father of private insurance in Iran. He was the president of Central Insurance of Iran and chief executive of state-run Bank Melli Iran, the county’s largest bank.

Iranian President, Hassan Rouhani said that the change in CBI has been made to bring about reforms in the banking system and financial policies and improve banking ties with the world, promoting bilateral financial deals and protecting the country's foreign exchange reserves.
